Mini-review:

Okay, why did nobody tell me the director of Your Name Engraved Herein had made a whole-ass gay drama? Just from that fact, I already knew I would love this. It certainly has more of a BL vibe compared to the movie, probably due to the source material, but it still manages to avoid basically all the toxic tropes and stereotypes. I really appreciate when these type of dramas take as much time as necessary to properly flesh out the characters and their bond, which is what you get here. People looking for constant romance will be disappointed, but the leads have fantastic chemistry, and seeing their development is exactly what makes it special. But truly, the characters are so relatable; the show uses them to make some beautiful reflections on life and youth. My biggest complaint is that the pace does get a bit too slow from time to time. Still, The On1y One is a gorgeously made drama and I definitely hope that second season happens.

Look, of course I want justice and equity for all LGBTQIA+ people globally, but you know what? The way show-makers in China get around gay censorship is pretty freaking hilarious. It always gives Straight-Captain-Holt vibes, ya know?

My finally getting around to watching The Legend of Shen Li, and, by God, every time FuRong Jun shows up and the script tries to sell him as a "ladies man," all I can think of is Straight-Captain-Holt.

That actor totally understood the assignment!

This is going to be a total guilty pleasure drama for me. Yes this drama has a ton of glaring problems to it, there’s a long list, but for some reason I absolutely love it. The main storyline isn’t original at all. Girl uses a VR to participate in a historical game that needs to find her true love. It really doesn’t make sense throughout both seasons, there’s plot holes galore to it especially the whole time vs reality bits, but for me I overlooked it since it’s a fantasy drama and a lot of the story is melodramatic crazy anyhow. With that being said, it’s absolutely hilarious too knowing to not take itself too seriously. The cast is amazing. The production is beautifully set, but what really drew me in is the amazing jaw dropping chemistry between the main leads. Smexy is an understatement. Yes at first Simon Gong Jun, the main lead, may be a total asshat prince, and when I mean a total asshat I mean the worst I’ve seen in a long time. He finally does redeem himself later on in the middle of the first season and especially throughout season two. When he does the chemistry and the love scenes, oof! If you can overlook its many faults as well as the female leads many suitors, this is an amazing drama.
